Sheetite®

Direct screw fastening into sheet metals

Efficient component design results in sheet metal joining technology getting thinner and must continue to meet the growing demand for process-reliable and assembly. Additionally, assembly times and upstream process steps need to be shortened. Sheetite®, the ARNOLD solution for direct screw fastening into sheet metals, helps you achieve these objectives.

Benefits

With Sheetite®, you make use of the technological and economic advantages of fastening directly into sheet metals. The fastener is screwed directly into a pre-drilled metal sheet, using your existing equipment. The polygonal cross-section in the thread-forming area ensures a chipless formed nut thread, which can accept a conventional threaded screw if a repair is needed. In the load-bearing thread area, the screw's shaft takes on a round cross-section, which achieved a better load capacity. Besides its improved hole-finding capacity in axis and angle offset situations, the rounded tip also protects product components located inside the installation area. Also, the risk of injury is reduced both during assembly and in fitted condition. Overall there are significant quality advantages: easier screw placement, low tapping torque, and high overload security.

Characteristics

ARNOLD's Sheetite® is designed to connect two or more plate-shaped components placed one on top of the other. This composite consists of a minimum of an upper clamping part with a clearance hole and a screw-in threaded part below it with or without a through-hole. The expected process and assembly parameters can be optimally adapted to the application in question thanks to the flexible dimensioning of the pre-punch hole diameter in the threaded part. Steel and aluminum can be joined. Other metallic materials are possible on request.

Advantages

Contrary to conventional sheet-metal screws, Sheetite® forms a nut thread at the beginning of the screw-in process. Sheetite®'s optimized load capacity. Combined with the metric nut thread produced achieves considerably higher overturn torques than a conventional sheet metal screw with comparable nominal diameters. When assembled, the smaller thread pitch of Sheetite® also offers greater security against unexpectedly loosing. In direct comparison, using Sheetite® represents an apparent positive effect on process reliability while also extending the application fields.
